Portions | Southern | Game Day
Portions: BE PREPARED TO EAT if you go here. All the portions are very large and could easily be shared between two people. We had the sweet potato fries as an appetizer and I had a chicken sandwich for lunch. All of the above was very well prepared. The chicken sandwich had a bit of zesty flavor to it which gave it a hint of new Orleans.
Southern: Most of the dishes are fried, oily, and prepared with a decent amount of peanut oil. All of this reminds me of my roots in Richmond, Virginia. This highlights the fact that Vegan and Vegetarians would have a hard time at this place minus Salads. Monica (my girlfriend) has made me aware of this when we go out to eat. She was limited to salads when we were there.
Game Day: We were there the first weekend of the college football season. This place is ideal to bring friends/family to get a meal and watch a game. They have 4-5 TVs above the bar which allow you to watch multiple games at once. It is not, so loud that you cannot have a conversation with friends, which is often hard to find in a traditional sports bar.
Pro Tip: It was not that busy, so reservations are a necessity. But, you should probably call ahead to make sure it is low key.
Pro Tip: it right beside a park, which is kid friendly -

Hamilton Inn is a quality spot in the Hamilton Park neighborhood of Jersey City. Nice ambiance, good service, & good food. That said, they can be a little silly with some of their pricing...none more offensive than fries costing $8, or a grain bowl salad with a choice of protein coating $23-24. Overall it's one of my favorite spots in the neighborhood but I always look at the bill and think it's more than other places in the neighborhood.
If you've not tried the corn beef sandwich you're missing out! -

So sad to write a bad review when this was truly one of my favorite spots downtown jc. Writing in hopes of helping and meaning no harm...
Brought some friends from out of town here Sunday and was shocked to see the Robert Plant burger off the menu as it was an amazing dish for us vegetarians amongst all the meat heavy dishes. I understand it it's not a vegetarian spot but it's always nice to share dinner with family and friends that eat meat and this burger was the best in town. Plus us vegetarians don't only like salads haha.
Resorted to another favorite the truffle egg pizza, which they kindly made meatless for me but was bummed to receive it without the usual runny egg. It was a bit of a dud with the dried egg yolks but I didn't want to be wasteful.
My friends struggled with the menu as well being told there was no home fries when the menu said there were in the description and another as she wondered if there was a veggie egg option which there is not.
Again hate to complain cause it still is a favorite just wanted to give some feedback as a long time lover. -

Came here with some friends and we had a nice time. We sat outside on a perfect night so I really enjoyed the outdoor seating. It's in a quiet neighborhood of jersey city so the foot traffic was minimal. We had the burger which was good nothing out of the park but it did the trick. I'll be back to try other items on their brunch menu since that's what they're mostly known for.

I'm going to start off this review by admitting to the fact that I am holding back from referencing lyrics from the musical, Hamilton, in every paragraph so, you're welcome.
Okay, back to biz. I was visiting in Jersey City over the Fourth of July holiday weekend and had already scheduled brunch plans at this place. My best friend lives in JC and made reservations a few weeks before my visit. This place is very small and fills up very quickly so reservations are recommended!
We got there right at opening - 10am - and had the place to ourselves for a short time. We started off with drinks; I got a grapefruit bellini and she got a breakfast margarita. I also ordered a cup of coffee. Mimosas and bellinis are $5 for brunch. The coffee was very good and smooth, it had a rich taste. I can't think of any other way to describe it.
As for food, I went with the classic eggs benedict. The only negative thing I have to say about the meal is that the English muffin was not that good and didn't add anything. It didn't seem toasted at all yet the bottom looked like it may have been toasted. I ended up eating most of my meal without the English muffin. The potatoes served with it were delicious.
Service was attentive but not overly so. A great spot for brunch/lunch!
